cleansing & balancing the throat chakra

let the truth move through gently
written by dawn

Your voice does not have to be perfect to be true.

The throat chakra is connected to voice, truth, expression, listening, creativity, and honest communication.

When this energy feels blocked, you may swallow your words, over-explain, fear being misunderstood, avoid saying what you know, or feel disconnected from your creative voice. This mudra and mantra practice helps the throat soften so expression can return in a way that feels safe and embodied.

This is a practice for allowing your voice to come back without forcing a speech.

when it helps

This helps when I:
• feel creatively blocked
• am having a difficult time accessing my emotions
• feel disconnected from pleasure or softness
• am trying to force inspiration
• want to reconnect with my body in a gentle way
• am preparing to write, cook, dance, sing, or create

how i do it

I sit comfortably and let my jaw unclench.

I interlace my fingers inside my hands and let my thumbs touch and lift slightly. I hold the mudra near my throat or rest it in my lap if that feels better.

I take a slow breath and let the back of my tongue relax.

Then I repeat softly or silently: Ham (pronounced: hum)

Sometimes I say it out loud. Sometimes I hum it. Sometimes I only imagine the sound.

I let the vibration move through my throat, jaw, neck, and mouth.

I remind myself that truth can begin gently. A sigh counts. A hum counts. A whispered sentence counts.
